I am logged on as a adminstrator to a Winodws 2000 system and am being
denied the ability to add a name/value to the key for Fusion, a tool
that came with MS .NET framework. I'm following instructions for
enabling a feature by adding this name-value to the Fusion's key. I
have already added this successfully on another Winodws 2000 system.
However, on my desktop system I'm not alowed to do it even though I'm
logged in as the Administrator and I did the original installation of
the software.
So my question is what do I need to do so I can add this value in the
registry? I don't want to have to write a program to do this - it
seems like there must be some adminstrative utility for seeing
permission constraints on the registry entry and changing them. Of
course I'd like to know why I'm not allowed to make this change my
desktop, even though I am logged on as the adminstrator.lmonte, I wonder if the error triggers a log in the Event Viwer. The only thing im thinking about is File Security settings try
and...find the file in your windows folder or system32 folder,
"regedit.exe" right click on the file.
Then..on properties on regedit.exe look on the security tab and check
what type of atributes do you have? Full Control checked? for the
administrator account? try and un check it apply and re check it to
Full control again.
see if u cant do it now
I hope this helps
good luck
Johnlmonte, just to throw out another idea, could it have something to do
with 2000's registry size limit? You can learn more about it on MDSN,
keyword RSL.lmonte, you may want to provide the exact error message you received.I did this:
In the registry on the "folder" for Fusion from context menu I
selected New DWORD value.
and got this error message:
"Cannot create value: Error writing to the registry."
I can provoke the same error message if I log on with fewer privileges
than administrator and try to add to a registry entry that requires
higher level of permission than my current log-on profile.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
