Melanine mixing bowls, I have a set of them and am wondering if they are safe?

  • I've been hearing that melanine isn't safe, in toys, etc. so it seems to me they wouldn't be safe for mixing food that we eat. Does anyone know?


  • I don't recall the melamine getting into toys- that was lead. But it was ingested when it was mixed with foods in China.
    I don't know enough - and couldn't find out enough - to be certain but my gut says they are probably fine to eat from. They've been in use for decades. Having said that, to be on the safe side, I've personally been switching from any plastic container -even "microwave safe" to glass containers.
