I believe so, there is more information , but, I can't remember right now, drew a blank. sorry.No.You have to be at least a quarter and in touch with the culture. Accept it. Move on. Not at all, it is fact that anything past one quarter does not really mean anything. If you mean do you qualify for tribal benefits.. than barely but yes. As far as can you claim you are an American Indian yes it is in you as well as other races....Celebrate everything that you are and be proud of you!! Nope...a native would be 100% so unless you grew up on a reservation with 16 different ethnicities the answer is no.Yes - you're 1/16th native.hello
i think that it dosent matter how much you are it matters on what you believe. if you find the rituals and the life of your tribe of native americans facinating than i would say it counts and you can call yourself native ameriacan not unless you are socialized that way. Blood doesn't make you anything-culture does.
and BTW, are you *sure* you are Cherokee? LEGALLY NO AND 25% IS THE LEAST TO BE AN INDIAN NOW OBOMA CAN CHANGE THIS YA KNOW. MY GRAMAS WAS 8TH OF INDIAN AN A SITTING BULL WAS MY 8GREATS BACK GRAND FATHER. SOI AM IN THE SAME BOAT.
Maybe. You'd have to check with the Cherokee Tribe and see if your ancestor is on the Tribal Rolls. If the name isn't on the rolls, it doesn't matter how large the percentage is - you won't be admitted as a member. And there are two officially recognized Cherokee Tribes, one in Oklahoma, the other somewhere back East. I'm thinking Georgia, but I'm not sure.Um, technically. But 1/16 is pretty insignificant. You can learn about Cherokee culture and consider yourself Cherokee if you want, but I think 1/4 is the cut-off line...My great grandmother was full blooded cherokee indian. I'd still say if it's in your blood, then yeah.sure why notyes but if u wanna qualify to have native benefits ur ancestors have to be one of the founding fathers dude, i'm an 1/8 and don't even claim it. anything passs 1/4 is not much in my book.
don't let these words put a damper on you not celebrating your culture. Depends on your tribe. I am probably only 1/16 Indian but I am defionitely not cosidered to be onehow do you know your 1/16th indian? but i gues you can say i'm some what nativeYou have Native American ancestry, but the percentage is pretty insignificant. You can call yourself mixed if you want.
And by the way, Indians are people from India.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
