Cons of deforestation?

Loss in diversity
Photosynthesis makes the atmosphere cooler as the trees "breathe"
No trees = warmer atmosphere
Soil erosion
Are there any more cons that I missed?
After deforestation, soils are usually unstable and subject to erosion. The crops are less productive than a sustainably managed forest and the run off of soil pollutes water courses.
Deforestation is often a precursor to desertification. The micro climate created within forest means that water evaporates more slowly and is stored in underground aquifers. After deforestation that water is likely to run off and evaporate, eventually drying up the area.
Given that trees expire massive amounts of moisture each day, if you have hundreds of millions of trees in a given dense area, you are going to generate a wet climate. Over the eons nature has adapted to that situation, as have human beings. Eliminate that climate driver and you will destroy the climate necessary for that region to survive. Further, the "butterfly" effect will proceed to move the unused moisture to other parts of the world where it may or may not be welcome.
It just doesn't pay to mess around with mother nature, because we as humans, are not nearly as clever as we believe ourselves to be.
First, we have loss of habitat for wild life such as squirrels and several species of birds. Next, we have less trees that would provide us with Oxygen (we have too much CO2 as it is now and by cutting down trees, it would worsen our status), and lastly, there would be soil erosion especially by sea coasts. There are some pros though. But pros more have to do with economics and money.
--> Oh, don't forget several medicines come from tropical forests :) and deforestation could also ruin our food chain :(
Loss of habitat for endangered human tribes
Loss of animal habitats and distressing of animal populations
